-
Matters Arising from Previous Minutes
Newbold Open Space – Nothing to report
Tredington Playground – CLLR DUNN reported that he had met with a local builder who would quote for the work, the costs quoted to date from two other specialist play companies were prohibitive. The clerk would submit a bid to the County Councillor’s grant fund to help pay for the work
-
Public Participation
A Newbold resident reported that the war memorial needed attention as names were beginning to fade. The clerk would contact the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to arrange attention. The meeting also discussed repairs that may be required to the door on the mud, asking the contractor to clear the village hall car park of fallen leaves and noted that WCC were aware of path maintenance issues in Newbold.
A Newbold resident attended the meeting and provided an update on the Safe Avon Partnership on behalf of a group of Newbold residents, who were now testing water quality of the Stour locally every week. The residents had purchased kits for £200 to do this. The meeting noted that pollution locally was at the higher end of the scale. Assumption noted that residents felt that this was as a result of recent building, where Severn Trent Water hadn’t commented on large scale development, so drainage and sewage matters were not taken account of by the planning authority. It was agreed that the council would reimburse the residents for the cost of testing equipment and would receive update reports from the group every three months, this would be to publicise locally and to lobby the water company to take necessary action.
-
Chairman's report and other reports
-
Chairman: CLLR ASTON had nothing further to report
-
Clerk: The clerk reported that he was working with land registry to sort ownership of the village green in Tredington. It was agreed that the council would fund a grit bin for Averis Way.
-
Armscote: CLLR GATEHOUSE reported that residents were looking to restart the Neighbourhood Watch, the Notice Board was now in place, Heath’s were working on the ponds and the WhatsApp group was proving to be particularly effective, with lots of issues being identified for WCC.
-
Blackwell: The meeting noted that CLLR MURPHY and the clerk had been liaising with the County Council as to ownership rights where a resident wished to install a new entrance gate. The meeting also discussed the on-going issues around getting a resident to cut back overgrown trees which were proving hazardous for motorists
-
Darlingscott: CLLR NEWBERY had nothing to report
-
Newbold: CLLR ASTON reported that the hedge had been cut back at the allotments and asked the clerk to enquire as to a larger dog waste bin for Moss Lane. There were on-going maintenance issues at the allotments, the clerk would contact previous holders to ensure tidy up and it was agreed to purchase a chain and padlock for the gate.
-
Tredington: The meeting noted the on-going grass cutting issues as a result of the Parish Council not being the registered owner of the village green. A playground update had been provided under matters arising.
-
